ABOUT THE COMPANY
KKEL has been operating for the last 5 years since started operations in 2005. The company is a management company
which manages coconut plantations, oil palm plantations and cocoa plantations. The aim of the company is to facilitate local
production and downstream processing and marketing of these agricultural commodities. The company promotes sustainable
development to its communities through local participation in employment and economic interdependence. KKEL currently operates
a number of coconut plantations in New Ireland Province of Papua New Guinea. These plantations are a joint agreement between
landowners and KKEL to support and enhance production capabilities and economic sustainability of the plantations. KKEL has also
moved into promoting the sustainable development and management of smallholder oil palm and cocoa plantations. Through various
co-operative arrangements, local villages and land groupings are able to have a sound structured economic development that
contributes to their social well being. KKEL believe strongly in sound financial planning and savings, delivering agricultural
commodities and services in a friendly, professional and ethical manner.
MISSION
KKEL’s mission is to improve people’s lives by assisting and
educating them on the importance of sound financial
planning and savings by delivering agricultural products and
services in a friendly, professional and ethical manner; to
maximize shareholder value and to achieve a pre-eminent
position in the PNG coconut industry.
VISION
To become PNG’s preeminent coconut and coconut
products supplier servicing the needs of its shareholders
and being the preferred supplier of innovative coconut
products and services to the grass roots community and
small to medium enterprises (SMEs) contributing to
shareholder value and PNG’s economic development.
OBJECTIVES
Social Objective
The social objective is to bring needed development to the rural communities through encouraging
integrated participation by individuals and co-operatives in business undertaking with KKEL which will see
them benefit by; increased equal-employment opportunities for both men and women, improve livelihood
through wealth creation, skills training and educating, reduce law & order problems as a result of more young
people actively participating in development, and improved public utilities such as roads, bridges, water
supply and electricity to rural communities.
Economic Objective
Economic objective of this project initiative which KKEL aims to achieve will be to;
Increase wealth of rural communities through co-operative participation in business activities by the
people
Increase shareholder wealth through the development and implementation of this project initiative
Increase investment opportunities in the province through creating a lucrative coconut enterprise
business
Increase business opportunities arising from other sectors of the economy
Increase exports of coconut products to overseas markets, thus contributing to increase GDP per
capita
Considerable sustainable economic growth experience by the agriculture sector overtime
Financial Objective
The financial objective of the project initiative is more internal to KKEL’s sustainability and growth in the
agriculture industry and will be;
To maintain a high production and sales turnover from copra and coconut products export volumes
To become a monopoly in controlling and managing all coconut and copra co-operatives in New
Ireland province
Increase shareholder value through established business activities in the six components of the
project
To be more profitable in a short period of time and able to capitalise in other business ventures and
industries
